Compared to a septic tank or holding tank, a bio-treatment or self-cleaning wastewater treatment system is the most modern way of treating wastewater. In essence, it is a small wastewater treatment plant where the wastewater is treated by bacteria and micro-organisms that break down the organic matter in the wastewater and use it for food. Klaro is a classic dosing treatment plant, where wastewater is treated in batches. This means that the quality of the water treated by the system does not depend on the amount of inflow. Modern biotreatment plants can reduce the BOD of wastewater by 95% and the suspended solids by up to 97%. The biotreatment plant must have a certificate issued by a specialised laboratory showing the cleaning results.
Klaro Biological Wastewater Treatment is suitable wherever there is a need to purify domestic wastewater. The smaller models in the range are suitable for private homes and smaller groups of dwellings. There are also special solutions that can be used in the event of large fluctuations in flow. For example, schools and holiday centres, where consumption is highest only at weekends, have large fluctuations in flows.
Produced by the German company Otto-GRAF GmbH and the experienced purification equipment manufacturer KLARO GmbH, the Klaro Pro dosing wastewater treatment plant works on the principle of wastewater aeration. There is no need to install any live parts in the container. All the movement processes in the system take place by means of three compressor-driven pumps operating on the ‘air-lift’ principle. The compressor also supplies air to the membrane generator at the bottom of the second chamber of the dosing blower. The compressor and all the other technical components are practically maintenance-free and are housed in a control cabinet that can be installed in the service room of the building.
There is no electrical or rotating equipment inside the tank, and therefore no risk of system failure inside the tank. The cleaning processes are controlled by an air compressor built into the Klaro system control unit. The distribution of air between the individual pumping processes is controlled by a dedicated automation system. The air compressor is very reliable and quiet. The system’s electricity consumption is only 0.14 kWh per person per day.
The compact control cabinet for the system control unit, together with the air compressor and the damper module, is installed in the service room of the building or in an appropriate outdoor control panel. The system’s controls are virtually maintenance-free. The number of hours worked by individual devices is displayed on the LCD display. All emergencies are signalled by both sound and light signals. All the parts in the handlebars are mounted in such a way that they are easy to replace. In addition, the modular design of the system saves a lot of time and money in case of maintenance or repairs.
The compressed air hoses of the tank and the corresponding fittings in the control unit of the system are colour coded to avoid possible errors during installation. All components are already factory-fitted to the carrier frame, so the entire system only needs to be matched to the reservoir guide plate. The Klaro Pro Carrying Frame system makes it exceptionally easy to install the braiding system.
Klaro Pro can be adapted to changing conditions in a very flexible way, simply by changing the duration of the cycles. The system can also be switched to day off mode, which means that the control unit automatically adjusts the ventilation according to the load.
